Kit Alone

-10:30PM, Kit and Bradley's house-
Alone, that’s all he was now. Without his brother, he was nothing, no one to talk to, and nothing to do. So he laid on his bed, facing the ceiling for what seemed like hours, his mind often drifted off, thinking about his brother and wondering why he was so late. His mind immediately shot to thinking of the worst, kidnapped, murdered, lost.  He desperately tried to shake the looming thoughts, but couldn’t not doing nothing and just staring at something that never changes; so he decided to get up, but what was he to do? He shuffled about his home idly, passing the kitchen and considering a snack once, but then the gruesome thoughts inched back, and he changed his mind. He sighed deeply, just nothing was right, it was all much too quiet, too lonely, too dark. He began to feel a lump rise in his throat, a painful crying feeling, and soon enough tears came to eyes. He brushed them off quickly; crying wouldn’t help his brother return. He shuffled about some more, and took out a photo of his brother. He sat down, and took a long hard look at the photo, memories flooded through him, like a waterfall of happiness, sadness, anger and joy.
He laughed at the happy, humorous times, and felt tears arising at the gloomier memories. His brother was great, best in the world in his book. If only he were here now, Kit wouldn’t be so lonely. Another large sigh escaped him, and he curled up around the picture, hoping it would bring him comfort until his brother actually arrived. Soon he fell into a deep sleep, and only awoke at the sound of a familiar voice. Brother! His mind screamed, he hopped up and looked about, expecting to see him anywhere. But alas, the voice had only been in his mind. Tears began to well up in his eyes again, and a dull sunlight shone through the curtains. Brother was still gone. He slumped upstairs, too tired and depressed to do anything else; he decided to get more sleep.
He walked into his brother’s room by accident, and to his great surprise, in the bed Bradley was sleeping happily. All along, he thought stupidly, all along my brother was asleep! He was so silly sometimes.
